Jaycee's Journey
Published May 29, 2018

Miss Jaycee is a superstar in every way. We had the privilege of visiting with Jaycee, her family, and her favorite nurse Gracie at her home for a fun patient photo shoot. Jaycee is a thirteen-year-old girl with a heart of gold and an outgoing personality to go with it. Jaycee has received care from us since 2014 through private duty nursing, personal care services, enteral nutrition, medical supplies, and physical therapy.

Born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a rare combination of 4 heart defects, Jaycee has been a fighter since day one. According to her parents, her physical strength has definitely increased over the years with the partnership of her Aveanna care team. Her nurse, Gracie, has pushed Jaycee to walk as much as possible instead of always relying on others for assistance in her stroller or wheelchair. Jaycee’s father is extremely proud of the weight gain Jaycee has accomplished since getting her feeding tube. He stated, “Gracie’s dedication to helping Jaycee meet her nutrition and weight milestones was life changing for my little girl.”

True to teenage norms, Jaycee loves listening to music and watching television. If the Hallmark Channel is on, Jaycee is one happy woman. Jaycee’s mom, Shelby, told us, “Over the years she has improved in her ability to interact with others.” She enjoys spending time with family and playing with her stuffed monkey toy that her sweet teacher gave her. Jaycee attends school with the help of her Aveanna nurse.

While spending time with Jaycee and her loved ones, it was so special to see their family bond and adoration for each other. Jaycee’s care is a team effort and we are honored to be a part of her support system.
