En Español: https://www.aveanna.com/aviso-a-nuestros-pacientes/

To our Aveanna family:

We want you to know that we value the trust you place in us for your care, and we know that you are depending on Aveanna to keep your family as safe as possible during this time.

We realize that many of you are concerned about the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) and the news surrounding this outbreak. You can rest assured that Aveanna is well aware of the Coronavirus, and we are monitoring the situation closely. As a national leader in care, we are able to dedicate our resources toward planning, prevention, and safety. Our leadership is working with the CDC’s and WHO’s guidance to keep up to date with the latest developments. We have already put into place a plan to address the Coronavirus, and we will amend that plan as necessary.

Already, we have sent out guidelines about prevention and safe practices. We are instituting more stringent policies about washing hands, using hand sanitizer, and wiping down all surfaces where we work. We want to remind everyone that the risk of contracting this virus remains low, but these preparations represent common sense precautions that we should all be mindful of during this time.

The advice we have circulated remains the best defense right now against the spreading of all illnesses. For that reason, it makes sense to repeat it here.

Wash Your Hands

This simple advice is one of the most effective defenses against the virus. Make sure you wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds with soap and water. You may also use alcohol-based products of at least 60% or greater strength to help prevent the spread of anything from your hands.

Wipe Down Surfaces

Disinfecting surfaces (counter tops, care items, telephones – especially your mobile phone, keyboards, etc.) will help prevent any virus from remaining on surfaces. Keep all areas disinfected, especially the equipment we use and the spaces where we care for your family member.

Keep Your Distance

Remaining three to six feet away from others will help prevent viruses from spreading. This distance will help keep others from coughing or sneezing on you and spreading the Coronavirus or any virus. This is sometimes impractical but good to keep in mind as we work to reduce risk.

Maintain Other Common Sense Practices

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with tissues. Dispose of tissues properly after use.
  • Encourage flu shots. It’s not too late to get one!
  • Ensure there is soap and hand sanitizers in bathrooms.
  • Clean and disinfect care items that may be shared after each use. Examples would include therapy toys, standers, etc.

See a Doctor If You Think You Have Symptoms

The symptoms of Coronavirus are fever, cough, and shortness of breath. You should seek medical attention if you have been in close contact with a person known to have the Coronavirus Disease or if you have been close to someone who lives in or has recently traveled from an area with an ongoing spread of COVID-19. We should emphasize again that at this time, the chances are low for most of us to contract the Coronavirus Disease. Please let us know if you have undergone tests and if there is a positive result. The faster we know at Aveanna, the faster we can reach out to employees, families, patients, and local health authorities to prevent any further spreading of the virus.

Ask Your Local Health Department for Information

The conditions in any state and community are different. Use your state and local health department to get answers to any questions you might have. If you need to know more about the virus, its spread, and other information, look at credible sources to gain information and understanding. The two most prominent sources are the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). Visit their websites to learn more at: https://www.cdc.gov and https://www.who.int.

Most of all, we want you to know that we are here for you. We are dedicated to providing exceptional care in a safe environment, and should you have any questions, feel free to contact your location. We promise to keep you updated with changes to our plans as the need arises. Thank you again for choosing Aveanna Healthcare.
