Making Speech Teletherapy Fun
Published July 24, 2020

Aveanna Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Delma Salinas is an amazing clinician who brings a lot of fun to every therapy session.

Delma’s passion is assisting her patients in becoming independently verbal. She is committed to providing her patients with the best speech therapy. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Delma has put special efforts into helping her patients feel at ease. During teletherapy sessions, she would dress up as different characters to bring a smile to her patients’ faces. All of her patients were always excited to see what character Delma would be dressed as at their next session!

Delma has practiced as a bilingual SLPA for 18 years. She has worked in both home and clinic settings with children who stutter, have developmental delays in language and articulation, are on the autism spectrum, and have many other disabilities. Many of the patients Delma has worked with have required communication tools to assist them in everyday life. Delma has helped her patients by using total communication tools and behavior modification strategies and educating parents on home programs to help their children. Delma attended Our Lady of the Lake University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Disorders in 2002. Her training includes Picture Communication Exchange System, using communication devices, and Beckman Oral Motor Approach. She also has experience helping children who stutter improve fluency. Delma loves helping others in her community by volunteering with her church and fundraisers. She enjoys cycling trails and has completed many cycling events in Texas. She also enjoys learning about different cultures through travel. Delma loves painting and has a knack for designing artwork, painting beautiful creations on tables and furniture. Delma is delighted to be part of the Aveanna team, and we are just as delighted to have her!
