When Pam joined the Aveanna team in 2020, working in home care reignited her passion for nursing and solidified her love of helping others. Now, as a National Clinical Educator, she combines her extensive healthcare knowledge with the joy she receives from supporting nurses, inspiring and empowering them to positively impact their patients' lives.
What is your background in healthcare?
I always knew I wanted to work in healthcare in some regard. Nursing was my second career, after exercise physiology. I saw the personal impact of acute care and returned to school for my nursing license, and afterward I worked primarily in the ICU.
How did you find Aveanna?
After years of working in the hospital, I wanted a completely different pace. I loved that home healthcare allowed me to make personal, long-term impacts on patients, which is so different from other acute healthcare settings. When I joined Aveanna as a Clinical Supervisor in 2020, it truly reignited my love of nursing!
When did you transition to a role as a National Clinical Educator?
I've always loved education. My favorite part about nursing is giving others the tools they need to help them excel. When I saw the opening on our clinical education team, I jumped at the opportunity and was welcomed with open arms. I absolutely love it and our team! We do so much, but our biggest focus is providing onboarding for nurses, training them on important procedures for ventilators and trachs, and helping to roll out company initiatives and provide feedback and guidance where needed.
What keeps you inspired as a National Clinical Educator?
We have an amazing team that really feels like a family. This team stands out for its supportive environment and commitment to open communication, which allows us to challenge each other constructively and grow together. The energy and dedication here inspire me daily to bring my best. What fills my bucket is knowing that, when I shut my computer at the end of the day, I've helped to train someone who can provide better care for someone else. That impact is so special and inspiring!
What does being a National Clinical Educator mean to you?
Being part of this team means connecting with nurses nationwide and giving them the education and skills so they can impact our patients' lives. Knowledge is power, and we can always learn something new to help others. I appreciate being a trust resource, sharing knowledge, teaching skills, and empowering others to deliver exceptional care. I am also excited that I have been able to help contribute to advancing clinical practices and fostering a culture of learning and growth across the organization.
