To Vivian, motherhood means selflessness. She pours herself out for her three children – especially her son, Gabriel. When Gabriel was 11 years old, he went into cardiac arrest. His doctors said the resulting brain damage was irreversible. Vivian hopes for a miracle and has dedicated her life to his care.
Vivian loves being Gabriel's mom and treasures every moment with him. She keeps a careful watch over his health, fills his room with balloons, takes him to Disneyland, and throw him birthday parties. She is committed to bringing Gabriel all the joy and love she possibly can.
"Sometimes I get tired," Vivian admits. "Sometimes it's hard. But then I remind myself that it's harder for him. I can face anything for Gabby." On difficult days, Vivian's unfailing love for her son keeps her moving forward. And her Aveanna team steps in to offer their support.
Gabriel has been part of the Aveanna family since 2019. Over the past 6 years, many of his Aveanna nurses have become like friends to Vivian. They allow her to rest, spend time with her two daughters, and take care of herself and the rest of the family. "We love Aveanna," Vivian says. "Not just the nurses but all the office staff, too. They are always there when we need anything."
This Mother's Day, we celebrate Vivian and all the mothers and mother figures who are part of the Aveanna community. These women embody selflessness and dedicate their lives to their children. It is an honor to give women like Vivian the support they need to continue filling the irreplaceable role of mom.
